2nd Call for papers

We invite all non-doctorate students and researchers working in the field of Linguistics to submit abstracts for presentation on the various areas of Linguistics.

Read below the details of the event.

Linguistic areas

The abstracts should fit into one of the following subfields of Linguistics:

  • language acquisition
  • phonology
  • lexicography and lexicology
  • text and discourse linguistics
  • educational linguistics
  • historical linguistics
  • morphology
  • psycholinguistics
  • pragmatics
  • semantics
  • syntax
  • sociolinguistics
  • terminology

Submission guidelines

Abstracts will only be accepted if they are authored by non-PhD student researchers. Abstracts including authors/co-authors who already have a PhD will automatically be excluded.

Each author may submit at most one abstract.

Abstracts should be submitted in PDF format until the April 10, 2022 by means of the following form:


The submitted PDF file should not contain any element that can identify the author(s), such as name and affiliation. In the case of self-references, replace them with “XXX” in the body of the text and in the footnotes.

The abstract should have a maximum of 500 words, excluding bibliographic references (max 10).

Abstracts may be written in Portuguese or English.


All submitted abstracts will be evaluated by an evaluation committee composed of experts with a PhD in the field.

Abstracts will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

– robustness of the theoretical framework;

– adequacy of the methodology;

– relevance and originality;

– clarity of the text;

– quality of argumentation.

Upon evaluation by the committee, abstracts may be chosen for oral presentation or poster.

Abstracts accepted for oral presentation will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion.

As for the abstracts accepted for poster, the authors will be sent the guidelines for making a short recording of no more than 6 minutes exposing their work, which will be discussed online on the day of the event.

Registration fee

All authors with selected abstracts must register to the event through a link to be provided by the organization of the event. At the time of registration, they must pay a registration fee of 15 EUR. Students of NOVA/FCSH are exempt from this fee.
